More and more people are buying Macs from Apple Computer. Known for their elegant design, quality componentry and powerful graphics and multimedia capabilities, one of the major concerns for Apple lovers has been the availability of software for the Mac operating system. Simply put, much of the vast choice of software for the Windows OS has simply not been available to Mac users.
You now have a couple options to run Windows software on a Mac.
You can run Parallels Desktop which enables you to run Windows, Linux, and more side-by-side with Mac OS X on any Intel-powered Mac, without rebooting.
As a second option, Apple is planniing to include technology in the next major release of Mac OS X, Leopard, that will let you install and run the Windows XP operating system on your Mac. Called Boot Camp (for now), you can download a public beta today.
Boot Camp lets you install Windows XP without moving your Mac data, though you will need to bring your own copy to the table, as Apple Computer does not sell or support Microsoft Windows. Boot Camp will burn a CD of all the required drivers for Windows so you don't have to scrounge around the Internet looking for them.
You'll need Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6, an Intel-based Mac and at least 10 GB of free disk space.
For complete information and to download Boot Camp, go to the Apple website.
For our users who wish to try one of our Rose City Software products on their Mac, we will offer a free registration for a very limited time only in return for some detailed feedback about how well this new option works for them. This free registration offer will pertain to the following titles only:
- Audio Sliders
- Courier
- ClipCache Plus
- LinkStash
- Synchromaster
- DU Meter
- Tradetrakker
This is a free offer for new users only - we cannot offer refunds in return for this information.
Note: some popular Rose City Software products like Registry First Aid and TweakMASTER are Windows specific and simply will not be useful on a Mac.
You may download a free trial version of all of these titles from links on the menu at the left. If it works well for you under Boot Camp, please send us some detailed feedback including a screenshot of the software running on your Mac desktop, and we will be happy to issue a complimentary registration for the duration of this limited time offer.
