With each edition we will try to bring you a useful software program you don't have to pay for... just as we did in previous months. Some are direct from Rose City and some are great toys and tools we have discovered elsewhere that we think you will like! This month, we have a handy freeware tool called AutoHotkey, a free, open source macro-creation and automation software utility which allows users to automate repetitive tasks. Any application user interface can be modified by AutoHotkey. It is driven by a custom scripting language that is aimed specifically at providing keyboard shortcuts or hotkeys. 
AutoHotkey scripts can be used to launch programs, open documents, and send keystrokes, mouse clicks and movements to any software. This can be a real timesaver for repetitive tasks. Any keyboard key can also be remapped or completely disabled.
AutoHotkey is easy to use... you can write a mouse or keyboard macro by hand or use the built in macro recorder. Change the volume, mute, and other settings of any soundcard. Use a joystick or keyboard as a mouse. Close unwanted windows the moment they appear. Disable or override Windows' own shortcut keys such as Win+E and Win+R. You can even customize the AutoHotkey tray icon menu with your own icon, tooltip, menu items, and submenus. To try this great free tool visit AutoHotkey.com or download directly from here.
